Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing is an upcoming short film by cieMESS that explores overconsumption, ecological depletion and existential alienation through the imagined scenario of a lone human figure remaining on an exhausted Earth. Rather than a conventional narrative, the film functions as a visual manifesto, reflecting on the weight of memory and the legacy of collective decisions that shape the world we bequeath.

Set against striking imagery and atmospheric sound design, the work engages environmental ethics, human impact and interdependence. Here, the human figure is not framed as a dominator of nature, but as a participant within an entangled ecological field in which memory, consequence and the non-human environment are inseparable.

This project resonates with cieMESS’s broader research practice, which situates movement, materiality, perception and sound within post-humanist and relational frameworks.

Production status: Last Man Standing is currently in development and has yet to be produced. The realization of the film depends on support from sponsors and co-producers. We welcome collaborative partnerships, funding opportunities and co-production inquiries, as this project is designed to grow through creative exchange and shared investment.
